Our Impact

Thanks to the generous donations from Ocado, Prep Kitchen and Essex Furniture Outlet, along with the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, we are proud to provide high-quality provisions to our local residents and 24 partner organisations, reaching over 1,600 families each week. These provisions include fresh food, ambient goods, and cleaning products, helping to alleviate the ongoing pressures of the cost-of-living crisis within our community.

Our Environmental Impact

In May 2024, a grant was awarded by Enovert Fund that enabled us to install solar panels. SolarTherm UK installed a 27.06kWh PV System, consisting of 66 x 410w PV Module solar panels and VSMILE 20KW High Voltage Battery Storage. These solar panels have allowed us to reduce our National Grid Consumption by an impressive 50%, whilst returning excess energy generated back to the Grid.

The environmental benefits achieved by the solar is equivalent to 1417 trees, with the system producing over 26.01MWh as of Feb 2025, which is 35.64kWh per day!

Additionally, as a food bank, we play a key role in reducing food waste by rescuing surplus items that would otherwise end up in landfills, helping to minimise environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Our environmental sustainability efforts have allowed us to achieve the Eco Church UK A Rocha Silver Award.

We are actively exploring further opportunities to make our community hub more environmentally friendly, including seeking funding to expand our solar panel system, with the aim of achieving the Eco Church Gold Award in 2026.
